I have FB, Myspace and Twitter but I only use my FB account regularly. I think most people seem to be on FB and that's why. You can't stay up to date on things if nobody is on myspace. Why it's more popular, I don't know what people like about FB over myspace, I personally am tired of all the changes on FB and don't spend near the time on there as I used to.

myspace got popular once friendster couldnt handle the traffic - this was about 2003

spammers were taking over on friendster because of its popularity

then when myspace got more popular, spammers tried to take over myspace (2006)

people loved myspace because you could customize your profile, but eventually myspace had to give in and remove that ability because spammers were winning (2008)

facebook got popular then because myspace was being taken oven by spammers and little kids (2010)

now, facebook is being taken over by spammers and little kids (2012)

the spammers move to wherever there is the most traffic and the easiest place to steal identities, personal information, and whatever else they can sell to black money buyers in india

proxy sites are the biggest problem - little kids who dont know any better will use proxy sites because they are "bored at school" and will do anything to play their zynga games while in detention... and that means they give their login information (email and password) to the owners of any proxy site that MIGHT work, even tho they dont actually work anymore

then that leads to the spammers getting huge lists of emails and passwords, facebook accounts they can log into in order to sell "page likes" to fake the popularity of a facebook page, which they can then try to sell to other spammers... the list is endless

is that enough information?

People stopped using myspace. FB was the novelty & not overrun by spammers.
Once a couple of people stopped using myspace, their friends followed, then their friend's friends, etc.
