If one of my friends on myspace gets a virus can I get that virus on my computer also? Like if they have a virus, and I except them as a friend will I get that virus?

very unlikely
if it did happen then it would be a very high tech virus
but myspace has a system that can delete viruses

Absolutely not.
A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user. However, the term "virus" is commonly used, albeit erroneously, to refer to many different types of malware programs. The original virus may modify the copies, or the copies may modify themselves, as occurs in a metamorphic virus. A virus can only spread from one computer to another when its host is taken to the uninfected computer, for instance by a user sending it over a network or the Internet, or by carrying it on a removable medium such as a floppy disk, CD, or USB drive. Meanwhile viruses can spread to other computers by infecting files on a network file system or a file system that is accessed by another computer. Viruses are sometimes confused with computer worms and Trojan horses. A worm can spread itself to other computers without needing to be transferred as part of a host, and a Trojan horse is a file that appears harmless. Both worms and Trojans will make harm to computers when executed.

Of course, the key word being executed.
Generally, to be infected by a virus, it would take some interaction by the user. Just viewing ones Myspace page will definitely NOT infect your PC with a virus even if your friend has a virus on his own PC.

Glad I can help,
Joey

Yes, social networks are the very worse for viruses, spyware, keyloggers, malware, worms, rogue dialers and adware.

Latest news from all security experts world wide say, "Social Networking is the favorite for criminals to steal your personal information.

I have a very close friend who just purchased a new laptop. She only uses her laptop for "FaceBook". She came to me and asked why does her new laptop on boot say, "your HDD, is ready to die".

When I booted her laptop and look at her monitor I noticed she had no antivirus, during the short period of one week.

I asked my friend if she wanted me to install purchase or free, she said "free", so I installed Avira free for home personal use from Germany, as it is rated as good as Kaspersky Russia & NOD32.

On one scan from Avira, the antivirus software found over 500 viruses from "facebook". Avira removed all 500 plus on one scan. Now may friend has only 50% of her HDD as I moved all of her data over to the good half of her HDD.

Please excuse my English not my primary language.
