Use the restoral optical disks, or the restore partition on the hard drive.

Hi There,

If you did a "full installation" of Windows 7 that formatted the hard drive (which erased everything on the drive....even the hidden partition containing Windows 8).

You might be able to download the Windows ISO file and install that using your product key located on the bottom or back of your laptop. You also might be able to call Dell tech support for help. See the link below for download of Windows 8.

If nothing else works you can buy the Windows upgrade for about $ 40- to do a full installation.

Hope this helps,
Al

Hello, I am Nitika from the Dell Social Media outreach team.

As per your post its a Software Issue and you can easily fix this issue with the help of Windows 8 DVD.

NOTE:Please perform a data backup before proceeding. Please disconnect any external peripherals (printer, scanner or any USB device) as well.

If possible please provide me your system service tag and your contact details so that I can contact you ASAP and can send you the Windows 8 DVD .

And you can find the service tag

**on the bottom of the laptop on the white sticker
**it’s a seven digit alphanumeric code which ends with BS or number 1.

If in case you do face any challenges in the process, please feel free to contact me directly by sending me a an email or by through a reply to this blog.
