How do you get involved in breast cancer organizations?

I live in a small town, and I see people talk about cancer and diseases all the time on facebook. It's great that people realize how life changing it is.. But not many people do anything about it. I just want to know where to start to make a change. Even if it's not cancer, something that can be damaging, I want to help. Where do I start?

Study their web sites.
Choose a charity that you consider worthy (for whatever reason)
Most of them have a "How to help" page
Check it out and follow their suggestions.

Before you can use the name of any particular charity and say you are collecting for them, you need to register with them and agree to abide by their terms (reciepting donations etc)
