Why won't my relationship status change on Facebook?

I sent my boyfriend a Facebook relationship request, and it says pending. He says he didn't get it, and sent me one, and his says pending. Why won't it change? I've checked my email... no notifications in my home page either

Facebook is telling you it's not meant to be just kidding.
As to why it's not going through, I'm not entirely sure, try waiting a day. If that doesn't work, ask some of your friends, they're bound to have changed their relationship status at some point on facebook.

You send wrong relationship request of your friend or your friend is not accepting your friend request then your status is showing pending. Firstly you delete your sending request then again send the friend request.
