For social networking, A FREAKIN' LOT! You're going to have to compete with all the zillions of other sites that are already well established. We're talking hundreds of thousands in a very short time... If you message me with more details I can get some first hand help. I'm taking accounting and microeconomics this term and one of our weekly requirements is that we ask and answer at least one of our classes questions. Plus, our teacher is really nice and jumps in A LOT with detailed info. But, whatever your idea is, before you even start worrying about hits or advertising - make sure what you want to do is legal where you're located. There are sooooooooo many different little restrictions everywhere it's crazy. King.com is a gaming site based out of Europe to all different parts of the world... Well for some (very annoying reason) I can't play money games if they're card games (EVEN UNO) because WA state prohibits it... (they say - I think they're nuts! We have a casino every 20 minutes here!) Anyways, my point is... If you get your idea all together and can't reach a good target audience then it's probably gonna have a hard time turning a profit... :-)

hi,

with Google ad sense for example, i have a website, that brings an average of 1500 visitors per month. It's a small niche and therefore even with good SEO, it's not a lot of visitors. out of this each time i get a click, i get as an average £0.15 from Google and in total i get between £4 and £11 per month.

Note i have only one banner with Google add placed on the right hand side. Note that this banner is visible on 30% of the website pages as most of the website is pdf content (like an online library).

Make your calculus for yourself
