Make a cool/interesting video. Such as a science experiment or an explosion.

it depends on the quality of what you are posting on youtube , is it worth watching or not , is it even interesting , read the comments and see what is it that people liked about your videos and what people didn't .
it can also help if you made the a good choice for keywords for your videos .

It depends, you on and what your good at.
If your funny make a comedy series and make sure its not made with a 2 megapixels camera and make sure you edit it with a good program like sony vegas or after effects not Windows movie makers.
If your good with cooking make videos about that, if your good at computers make guides on that, etc...
Make videos on what your good at and make sure there quality stuff so people watch more of your videos.

Post the video link everywhere!

Usually the key is to promote yourself on other websites, like Digg. Submit the URL of your youtube video to Digg in the offbeat section (or wherever else you think it belongs) with a catchy title that will make people want to click on the link. Make sure you have a good description there too.

There is an entire industry online devoted to SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing) which focuses on driving traffic and attention to specific websites, so if you really want to get your video out there on the internet you'll probably want to look into this as well.

Most likely though, you're going to want to use social and viral marketing platforms to promote the video, so put a link to it on your Facebook page, your MySpace page, or any other social network you use. Get your friends to talk about it, IM it to them, maybe they will IM it to their friends, etc, etc.

Well the luck plays it's part on this!! but I'm going to tell u something! if u put the idea on your mind and u worked really really hard on it! You will get it !! there is nothing impossible in this life!! As I see their videos getting a lot of views, they don’t seem to be special ( or very talented) even gives me a feeling that anybody who is serious about making videos can actually get a lot of views.
You can greatly increase your YouTube views by following basic optimization tips:
1. Title: optimize titles so that they get better search engine results plus get a lot of views on YouTube.
2. Thumbnails: Select a compelling thumbnail that catches eyes.
3. Don't make an Ad(only for commercial purpose): if your video doesn't provide any value it won't be viewed again and again.
4. Be innovative: Innovative videos spread like a virus on social networking sites and easily get on the front page of YouTube. So be creative, be funny.
5 .Optimize tags: Ensure proper tagging to get better position in search results.
6.Social networking: use twitter, facebook,Myspace to promote...
7. Your personal blog: set up a website or a blog. Direct people from videos to blog also vice versa.
8.Use other video sites: use the power of Daily Motion, MetaCafe and other video sites.
9.Never Ever give up: Even if your initial attempts fail, do yourself a favour, don't give up.

There is a great resource named "How to get more youtube views in 24 hours or less by Ryan hanks"

Best of luck

DO NOT USE TUBETOOLBOX or other view generators.... they are COSTLY and STUPID.

1. comment on a bunch of vids
2. subscribe to a bunch of users
3. send out a bunch of friend requests
4. make interesting vids w/ good quality
5. share your vids on social networking sites (fb, twitter, myspace)
6. words of mouth (tell your friends and family)!!
