Why is my computer running slow after I installed Norton 360 version 5?
My computer was so fast when I hadn't had any anti-virus program installed, and I missed being so vulnerable to internet viruses because obviously Norton 3600000000 is dumb as hell and has to make Facebook, which is already retared to hell slow, like 10 times slower. Don't get it unless you are a patient person.

It's running slow because you installed Norton. Norton is known to hog resources and slow things down. It's also possible that you have picked up malware that's attcking Norton.

Never use a computer without an anti virus in place, but I recommend the following.

Uninstalll Norton

Download free malwarebytes antimalware (MBAM). Install and update it
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwar...i_malware/

Download free Microsoft safety scanner (You don't need to install this)
http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanne...fault.aspx

Reboot into Safe Mode.

Here's how for XP: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/docum...x?mfr=true

Here's how for Vista: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windo...-safe-mode

Here's how for Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windo...-safe-mode

Run a full scan of MBAM... this may take a few hours and delete everything it finds

Then run a full scan of the Microsoft safety Scanner you downloaded (it doesn't need installing)... this might take a long time too.

Reboot and hopefully your PC will be clear of whatever malware you've picked up.

Install free Microsoft Security Essentials ( a diiferent anti virus that won't slow your PC down as badly) http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security_...fault.aspx

Forget you spent money on Norton

Norton is really a bit heavy on the resources, especially the Norton 360 and your computer may not be fast enough to handle it. Have you paid for Norton? If you have then either let it go to waste or transfer it to another computer and then use a lighter antivirus program like Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials:
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

However, before you can install a different AV program, you will need the special Norton product removal tool:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-s...ect_pubweb

By the way, don't forget to scan your computer for spyware too:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

Who knows, you might find something that's causing your computer to slow down.

If you're using Vista OR Windows 7, Windows Updates likely installed Microsoft Security Essentials automatically, but only if no other Anti-Virus App was detected. It should be listed, in Control Panel > Programs and Features. If so, un-install MSE and re-boot.

If it's not listed, your PC manufacturer may have included a TRIAL version of McAfee, for example, and it must be un-installed, instead.

TIP: One PC, ONE Anti-Virus ONLY, that's the RULE! Two of them, running at the same, slow your PC because all they do is 'fight with each other', and overwhelm your CPU.

The problem is that Norton is consuming
most of your CPU usage. What you have
to do is stop the background services,
defragment your registry, and change
system settings. Here's how:
http://windows7crashing.com/?p=53

Even after doing these solutions, if you
found that your computer is still running
slow, then uninstall
Norton; and install another antivirus
software which usages low system
resources. Examples are: Avast,
AVG, MalwareBytes AntiMalware,
and so on. These are freeware.

Be sure to do all the system
optimization tasks on a regular
basis, say once a week, and
so on. They will make your
computer faster and computer
freezes issue will not occur.
