How to get free traffic?

I created a website 2 days ago, I did advertise it on some forums, twitter, facebook, but it's barely giving me any traffic. Can someone more experienced give me some tips on how to get lot of free traffic? + if you wanna just say use social media etc don't bother, I know stuff which will help me get traffic but I just need more advanced guides, so if you wanna say use social media, develop your answer to what exactly should I do because the stuff I do now isn't good enough.

Hey Darek,
You don't mention what your site is all about. There are a lot of places to get free advertising, but for example, if your site is for a hot dog stand then things like Traffic Exchanges and Safelists will do you no good. However if your site is about improving your online marketing skills, then TE's and Safelists is just where you want to be.
SEO is good for all sites. Though it requires work, research, time and a lot of patients. It took me 5 months to get my site listed on page one of Google, Bing and Yahoo, but it can be done. Here's some materials I recommend to my students to help them get started with SEO. (search engine optimization). You of course don't have to do everything at once, take it a step at a time. It takes a while to climb the rankings, so don't be in a hurry.

Hi, I will recommend SEO, it's more targeted and got a lot of potential buyers. Research your keywords properly (Google Keyword Tools), buy a good SEO service to do it for you. You might want to find them on Fiverr, look for the SEnuke gigs. Good luck and happy seo-ing!

- Video Marketing (especially via YouTube)
- here at Yahoo! Answers
- do SEO
- submit articles
- Squidoo and Hubpages
- Forum and Blog commenting
- Craigslist
- email marketing
- Ad Swaps / Solo Ads
