Why my website (link popularity) not showing back links from social sites?

I've added my site url to all social media sites for 1 way links but when i chk for back links i don't see in the results any of social sites giving me links back why? plz explain thanks.

How long has it been? Where are you checking, Alexa? It may take awhile. The search engine web crawlers will have to index the page with your backlink, and even when it does it still may take awhile.

If you're using alexa you should also sign up for the 3 top search engine webmaster tools, Google, Bing, and Yahoo. They're backlinks usually post faster.

Check your sites on Yahoo, if you are checking Google they do not show 90% of your links.

most of the big social sites have "no follow" links. meaning, search engines won't follow the link. even though you have a link on their site, it basically does not count for anything. it doesn't pass the link juice.
