why can't i change my yahoo profile picture?

i have spend months trying to upload a profile picture , and i have still not been able to . everytime i get this message... "THIS ACTION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED BECAUSE WE ARE CURRENTLY UNDER MAINTENANCE. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER."
it has been this same message for months , and nothing has changed. i try it almost everyday.

Since you didn't specify what exactly you already tried to get an avatar, I'll give you all the options there are...

You can use a photo or a Yahoo! cartoon avatar, and if you have a Facebook or Twitter account, you can also use those avatars.

Go to: http://profile.yahoo.com/y/settings/privacy/ - make sure your profile isn't hidden, because if it is, your avatar won't show.

If you want a cartoon avatar, go here to create one: http://avatars.yahoo.com/ - then click on "Yahoo!" under "Export your Avatar".

In case you want to use a Facebook or Twitter avatar, you need to link those accounts in the Profile options.

You have several options in case you want a photo avatar:
a) go to your Yahoo! Answers settings at http://answers.yahoo.com/my-activity/edit/about , click "Update photo or avatar",
b) go to your Yahoo! Profile at http://profile.yahoo.com/ , click on the current avatar.
Now upload a picture or choose one of the pics you've uploaded previously.

Note: you need to use a desktop computer in order to change your avatar, you can't do it with a mobile.

This is a new glitch. There is nothing you can do until Yahoo fixes it. You could try reporting it on the Suggestion Board.
