How can I check my graphics card manufacture without physically looking? -No Driver installed-?
Okay so I need to install drivers for my graphics video card. It shows it as a yellow question mark in my device manager. And programs needing directX will not run because there is no graphics card detected (the drivers not installed)

I just recently reformatted my computer so this is a result of that. Now I cannot check it physically because when I go under (its a dell laptop) and pull the bottom plate off only the ram and hardrive is accessible.. (really pisses me off) there is no way to get to it without taking the whole damn thing apart..

What should I do?

You might not have a graphics card and have onboard graphics instead. To check you can download this program and it will show you all your computers info

Hello Big Burt,
My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Every device has a Vendor and Device ID associated with it. Using these IDs, you can find the Make and Model. For this,

-Open Device Manager
-The hardware whose drivers are missing will appear as Unknown device, so it's easier to locate the device.
- Right click on the unknown device and click on Properties.
-Under the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id from the drop down box.
-The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID

Eg: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27DC&SUBSYS_30868086
&REV_01\4&1E46F438&0&40F0

Vendor ID = 8086
Device ID = 27DC

- A Google search of "VEN_8086&DEV_27DC" will tell you what device it is and also a few websites where you can download the drivers.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dell-Kris K
