What would be a good response to this?

What would be a good response to this?
Right...so, I am a huge fan of a certain sports team. I follow some members of said team on Twitter. Yesterday, one of them followed me back and then sent me a direct message. The first couple of messages were pretty simple i.e. "hey, how are you?" A couple of messages later, the athlete sent a message that said something to the effect of "wanna meet up?" I admit to being a little bit flabbergasted. I live over 2 1/2 hours away from the city in which the sports team is located, so "meeting up" probably isn't much of an option.
The bottom line is: I'm sure the athlete is a lovely person, but I cannot see to drive 2 1/2 hours to meet someone that I have exchanged a handful of messages with.
So, what would be a good, non-rude way of saying that in a message?
I just need some ideas as to some ways to politely decline. =P

Make up some random story, you don't know him it won't matter. Or you could just not reply. It's not all that safe to meet up with someone you barely know.
