Are Facebook messages sent between two permanently deleted accounts purged from Facebook's database?
Ive decided to permanently delete my Facebook account for privacy reasons and understand that they store messages sent to others in their database, as the messages are still connected to an active account. My question is, if some of my friends permanently delete their accounts will all messages between us be permanently removed and no longer retrievable within Facebook's database? After a reasonable amount of time for legal purposes, of course. I just with to leave a smaller footprint online.

There is no such thing as permanently deleting an account.
However, deleted messages are definitely gone forever. Delete them THEN delete the account. I don't know if they're gone "forever," but you can't see them. Maybe the staff at Facebook still can, though. IDK. |
