Why do people hack twitter accounts?

Just asking curiously- what do people get out of it?

If you're referring to what happened recently, they did it to obtain people's information like email addresses. They could use your email by cracking it, or sending you a link pretending to be twitter and steal your email. They also stole session tokens which means they can steal your acc. Stealing email addresses is very dangerous alone, they can get other valuable information about you. However, no one knows for sure who hacked twitter, or why they did it exactly, rumors are spreading around, however none of them have actually been directly stated by twitter.
