There is a jailbreak for devices with an A4 processor (iPad 1, iPod 4, iPhone 4, and Apple TV 2nd Generation), but it is tethered, meaning you would need to plug it into a computer and run redsn0w whenever it dies or turns off.
Planetbeing ( a longtime member of the jailbreak-creating community) appears to be on the verge of an untethered jailbreak, so follow him on Twitter for the latest updates.
