When you go to an author's website...?
This is a completely random question and for those who visit author websites.

When you go to the author websites, what's the first link you tend to click on. For instance, is it a link to their twitter? Bio/about page? Books page? Amazon/B&N link? etc? I"m just wondering if you go there for specific info or not.

-- I usually click on the about/bio page because I want to know what the author looks like. That's really the only reason I visit their websites. I might be interested in their blog if they have something to say that interests me (that's rarely). Oh, and FAQs.

What about you?

BQ: Do you have a favorite author website or author blog that you like to follow?
-- I sometimes peep in on what Harry Connelly (Child of Fire) has to say because his posts interest me and he's been v open about his series being cancelled by the publisher.

I seem to always click they're book list first. Not only to see what will be coming out in the future, but mostly because I'm curious if they have written a book that i never heard of. I'll read the books bio, and sometimes that how i find my next book.

Usually the reason I visit an author's site is because they've started following me on Twitter, at which point I've never heard of them. So the first place I go is the page with their books, to see if any of them are available on the Kindle. If they are, I download the sample to get some idea whether they're worth reading.

Usually the list of their books is easy to find, and it's easy to figure out which one I should read first, but a few authors make it surprisingly hard to figure out what they've written.

BQ: The only writing-type blog I read at all regularly is The Passive Voice (http://www.thepassivevoice.com, tagline "Writers, Writing, Publishing, Disruptive Innovation and the Universe")

I go for the bio. I want to know what the people are about, whether their real lives is the basis for their fiction, like that.

It's interesting that you read Harry Connelly's site. He's a friend of a friend; I just started reading him at my friend's recommendation. He's in the dedication, or the acknowledgements, I forget which.

Small world, huh?
