I realize that I shouldn't click anything like that from a tiny, little known website, but what if its a well-known website such as facebook or miniclip?

Just a scam,
They often require you to buy trials of things to receive these prizes
So while they say they are free you are still paying lots of money for stuff you probally are not going to use ever

Don't always trust internet ads. There are many dangers to them such as identity stealing (phishing), viruses, scams, etc. There are reliable ads but it's better to actually go to the website and not click on the links as they might redirect you to somewhere else.
