Is it a good idea to inbox him on Facebook?

I like this guy but he's a year older than me. I've seen him around at school but never spoke to him so he doesn't even know I exist. My friends told me to talk to him on Facebook but what should I say? I'm so scared to get rejected.. And he's kind if popular and I'm not :$
I'm scared that he'll think I'm a creep and make fun of me ..

Yeah. Just introduce yourself, say hi and use that chance to get to know him better. He won't think much about it since almost everyone uses fb anyway. So just talk like normal but try to talk to him in person. That'd be much better.
