Dell studio freezes when I try to press F8 on dell logo screen for factory reset, please help?
I'm going to sell my laptop and would like all or as much of my information to be out of it as possible, I heard you do F8 and it brings up the boot screen but everytime I do that the screen freezes and wont do anything, please help me I need to know how to erase all of the memory or just factory reset. I dont want the new owner to have any of my personal information or media.

Curious,
This is dependant on which system that you are talking about.You would press the F8 key as soon as the computer is booting up. Dont wait until you see the dell logo. It would be too late. Some of the older Dell Computers used the key combination CNTRL+ F11 when booting up. From there choosing repair your computer and following the prompts to restore. There are also some of the Dell Computers that did not come with a restore feature and you would need to manually format and reinstall Windows.
