What is better to install Linux on, Mac or Windows?
I want to get a new laptop and want to install Linux on it. I was debating as to whether I should get a Mac or Windows to do this. Which one would be a better choice. Pros and cons

Linux isn't a program like Word or Firefox so you don't install it on top of a Mac or Windows.

A Linux-based system is a complete alternative to Windows or a Mac so you don't need either in order to try it or install it.

Well, it really comes down to how much money you want to spend on a laptop.

I have had a Windows and currently have a Mac.

I like my MacBook Pro 10x better than my HP.

Macs are less prone to viruses and tend to last long as a computer due to better parts.

Go with a Mac if you have the money.

Ok.. first of all Linux is new to me.. and most commercial products and their customer services are aimed at the other operating systems.. I heard Linux are excellent for server management, but you need to know what you are doing..

Mac OS is excellent if you want a good operating system that rarely give problems and the performance are a bit better in apple computers.. and worth to mention that you can run windows inside MacOS in an incredible marriage..
The price tag is definitely more expensive, but the hardware usually come more advanced than the PC that rarely require upgrades and rarely conflict with each other..

Windows is excellent if you want diversity.. and I am not talking in the number of software alone.. you can do all sort of funny things to your PC.. the price range is definitely more appealing..
The PC give you more choices and options.. it feels less strict than Macs..

But it all come to your own use and your own taste..

Using virtual machine like VMware/virtualbox it is possible to install linux on either windows or mac. If you like to install Ubuntu on windows, an installer named Wubi can be used.

Most if not all linux distributions will run on new hardware designed to run Windows. With older Mac hardware, you pretty much needed to find one of the few distributions that would actually work, or create your own. With newer Mac hardware you will most likely still run into some limitations. For best compatibility, get a computer designed to run Windows, and put linux on it.

Ubuntu is an operating system based on the LInux ..Ubuntu can be installed on any computer and the operating system is free of cost
Visit http://www.ubuntu.com to download an iso file ,then burn it to a disc and install it on your computer ..You can install it along with your existing Operating System mostly Microsoft Windows ..When you will start the computer the first time it will ask you an option to start ubuntu or Windows

I liked ubuntu but again moved back to windows because it doesn't have a good music manager like itunes .A good optimization tool like advanced system care. The games and apps that you run on windows dont run efficienty on them. You need software named WINE to run it which often crashes. Skype is not as good as that is on windows.I use skype for facebook chat.I dont know whether ubuntu really doesn't catches virus as they say but it doesn't have any security antivirus programs like avast
The plus points of Ubuntu are
Good high end Video editor like cinelerra and music creation softwares
If you want a fully running audio, video, and image production all in one in your pc try a version of ubuntu named "artistx"
