Is there anyway to protect yourself from being hacked in Vkontakte?

Someone managed to gain access to my Vkontakte account and managed to post spam to my friends as well as gain access to my email account. Is there anyway to prevent this from ever happening again?

Also, which is more secure? Vkontakte or Facebook?

Facebook is most likely more secure Im not 100% about that im just guessing

also to prevent hackers from hacking you change your password use a strong password

have a update antivirus protection if you dont have a virus protection Microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes is really good and free

keep your firewall on

And get computer updates when they come out
