Is 1 or 2 GB on an iPhone 5 enough for me?

I'm looking to get an iPhone 5. With my current phone, when I'm not on Wi-Fi, I usually just check Facebook and Twitter or watch a few videos. Would doing this and occasionally using mobile hotspot eat up all of the data on an iPhone 5 plan?
I want to use my phone as a hotspot in case something happens like the Internet goes out, and my family needs to use it. Thanks for your feedback.

1 GB should be fine. I generally use about 350 MB a month, checking my email, using some Twitter, and lightly browsing the web. Save your money and get the 1 GB, you should be fine.

if you do not use it to watch movies or use it all the time 1 may be enough.
