It depends. Personally, I think I'd be a little (secretly) pleased if I had a message from someone when I was offline - it shows that they're thinking about you, and not because your name has popped up.
But I think it depends on the person - I don't think it would harm though!

I say just message her although she isn't online. Seeing as, when she gets online she will see the message.
But if you keep waiting for her to come on, then what if she gets on while you're off and its a never ending process.
A message would be faster, and no why would she mind? An inbox is their for a reason. If she does mind then she'll express so...
