What time of day and what kind of channel would a show like the UK "Skins" be on?
I saw some clips of it on youtube and I was kind of shocked by all the cussing, talk of drugs, and sex. In the US, that would never be on normal TV, maybe late at night, or something. So I was wondering when that would on UK TV and what kind of channel would it be on?

I don't know, but they're making a Skins USA for MTV that will air in January 2011.
(And it makes me want to cry...)

I've always watched Skins on Netflix...so I don't know.

In the UK we have a time band on network TV,starting at 9pm - around 4.30am it's referred to as "the watershed" which is the time after which the more risque programmes go out, generally anything 15+ or rated more mature.
I think Skins aired after 9pm on Channel 4 Television
The watershed is generally considered to be a good indicator of when not to allow small children to watch broadcast Television here, usually a warning is given out about content before something quite heavy is about to start.
Sometimes if a certain social issue is covered in an episode a freephone (toll-free) number or/and web-page is also mentioned for anyone who may identify with the issues raised in the programme, even in certain drama programmes here
The latter is usually mentioned during the end credits or after the programme ends before moving on with the ads/following programme.
