Put in new hard drive, OS Not Found message?
My hard drive died, so I bought a new one and put it in my computer. Now, I am totally clueless as to what to do. I do not have my manual anymore, but I DO have my Drivers and Utilities disc.

I have a Dell Inspiron 17r N7110 laptop. I put my disc in the tray, but nothing happens, and I do not know how to access menus that would make anything useful happen.

Yes, I know I'm totally unprepared for doing my own work on my laptop, but I needed it fixed, and I don't have the money to pay someone to do it for me.

When you buy a new hard drive, it is empty. You need to contact dell and get a system recovery disk with the OS on it. They shouldn't charge more than $20 for it. This is the cleanest way to get your computer working again. The other option is to use linux and hunt down the drivers or buy a new copy of windows and use those utilities disks.

Hey Madison,

You will need the Windows Reinstallation disk in order to install Windows, just as the other poster mentioned. If you do not have the disk you can click the link below and fill out the online backup disk request form. Once you have Windows installed you would then put the drivers and utilities disk in the drive to load the drivers. Below are some links to help you get your system back up. Feel free to contact me if you need any further assistance.
