even when you turn on all the security things and promise to only share things with your friends, strangers can still see things you do on facebook, it's not as private as you think it is

read this to understand how facebook really works

You just respect your parents wishes. You really don't need a Facebook, and I spend more time on it than I should. Its not all that and it is a lot better to text or even call your friends! I'm 17 and I didn't get a Facebook until I was 16 because I didn't want one or feel like I needed it. The only reason I got one is because I moved from the East to West Coast and use it to keep in contact with my old friends.

My teacher once told the class, "Just because you can doesn't mean you should.", and just because you can also doesn't mean you will, or you have to.

Why do you want one? Honestly, unless you have friends or family you want to get in touch with that live in another state or somewhere where you can't meet them, then you do not need a facebook account. Facebook's reputation is terrible, supposedly ruins people's lives (although I don't blame facebook, it's because of people).

As long as you are still under your parents, you have to do what they say. Their rules.

You may be the legal age by law to have a Facebook but that doesn't mean you don't have to respect your parent's rules. Until you are 18 your rights are whatever your parents give you. You already disobeyed them once by having a page in the past which they busted you for. That's probably part of why they don't allow you to have one. On top of it as a few others have stated here, Facebook isn't all that private. Even when you set the privacy settings things get out that shouldn't. I've been considering deleting mine because this is a major privacy issue. You don't want someone getting a hold of your personal information.

because they are concern about you not about them. they want you to focus your time and energy with the things that should be prioritized like your studies.

btw, why do you want to have one? some users have been depressed with fb because they can't stand the "bragging" of posts like pics the food they about eat, the place they went and the photos that are just made to boast themselves of.

respecting your parents will give them peace of mind and yours too.

Your legal age to get Facebook is 18 when you are an adult. What you re thinking of as legal age is simply Facebook's requirements
