Help please!!? 10 POINTS and ill answer your question. How do I initiate conversation?

So there's this guy named Jeriko in my school. He's really good friends with my best friend Amy So here's the thing... I've heard by Amy that he Is REALLY nice and I can see it too actually I can totally see myself liking him... But I like another guy at the moment whom Im trying to get over. So I think that by me getting to know Jeriko better it will help me get over my crush now.. Ben. I also just want to become his friend. I have no problem talking to Jeriko.. I was talking to him today actually with Amy and a few others Today I was standing in the halls, by myself waiting for the teacher and Jeriko walks by and says "hi, person" to me xD haha he would never have done that if I never talked to him. He doesn't know my name and I will plan on telling him that tomorrow BUT I don't really know how to start conversation with him :/ I have no classes with him either, I just see him in the halls.. Any help? thanks!!

next time you see him or your with amy just say oh by the way my name is such n such so you dont have to call me person. or complement his cloths or anything, just go up to him and say hi.

Well since he's good friends with Amy, I suggest maybe while she's talking to him, maybe introduce yourself? Just so he knows your name. Do you guys have lunch? If you do than you can do it there xD I never start a conversation with my crush ahaha. I'm scared as hell ;p

wow actually story of my life there. i have a crush on the guy i just randomly talked to because he was my best friend's friend and i just wanted to be friends.
uh so i don't really know how weird you are but basically all you do is just whenever you see him in the halls, you stop and wave and say "do you know my name?" or like "hi person who's friends with my bff!" and he'll talk to you. like that sounded really weird but if you just act normal around him and wave hi and stuff you'll start a conversation. also usually social media also helps? like me and the guy talk on fb all the time and at school when we see each other we can just continue the conversation then.
