How do I turn off iMessage notifications on an iPad and still receive notifications from other apps?
Some friends added me to this group message chat and if I delete it, it just comes back if someone texts to it. Late at night when I'm sleeping, I keep my volume up so I can hear my alarm in the morning. I don't mind a once in a while ding from the mail app, or Facebook. But not the constant tone of the group chat alerts. Is there a way to turn off just iMessage sounds briefly?

Well you can put your phone on airplane mode wich turns off all notifications

If only iMessage/text message goto Settings, Notifications, Messages, turn Notification Center off, scroll down to Text Tone, then scroll up to none, and vibration and none
