Did i get a virus from sharing a photo on facebook?

I shared a photo on facebook and it immediately downloaded the picture, it downloaded in 2 seconds so i had no time to cancel it. I scanned it with mcafee and it did not appear harmful, but I shredded it. Why did it download after sharing it and can it be harmful to my computer?

You can't get a virus by sharing something.
The pic may have had a virus on it. But that doesn't mean it did.

You may have clicked the wrong button.
You may have right clicked and then saved it.
it happens to me a lot!

i highly doubt it. If you think your computer is infected run a full anti virus scan.

The Pics from facebook do download pretty quickly, but it sounds like you shredded it so you shouldn't have a problem.
