Criminals don't buy guns legally, they just steal them from idiot conservatives with guns lying all over the house when they aren't home.

I suspect that most of the killings in Newark and Chicago are being done by people with criminal records who are not allowed to own guns

Most guns were originally bought legally, at least, the ones bought at gun dealers instead of private sales and over the internet. They end up in criminals hands through theft, as in Adam Lanza. So if we don't allow anyone to buy semi-automatics in the first place, fewer criminals will get access to them.
