How does this facebook freind thing work?

If you ask someone to be your freind on facebook does it mean that your are freinds or that you just know eachother?

I'm not quite understanding the question.. But when someone requests you on facebook, then they obviously know you and want to be friends on facebook.

basically it just means you know them. hahah i have a lot of "friends" on facebook that i dont talk to that much and wouldnt really consider my friend. hope this helps
