Facebook app security?

On facebook, if you click Account Settings >> Apps (left side column, bottom) >> Apps others use, there are two columns of checkmark boxes. The wording facebook uses is a little unclear for me. Does checking a box mean my friends can use that type of information or that they can't?

checking a box means you have given permission the app authority to visit your profile or to use your profile for other use. So I suggest you just use popular apps. Not use unpopular apps
