Am I the only person who doesn't use Social Media?
Hi, I'm 32, but I am afraid to use Social Media. I dont use Facebook, Twitter or ANY social media. I'm a law-abiding citizen, I dont engage in illegal activity (I'm not "hiding" anything) but the idea of private life being on the internet horrifies me. I cant believe people share themselves with the entire world, I dont get it. Am I the only person who feels this way?

I don't use those sites either, and I'm 17 so it's even weirder for me.

You are not the only person who has managed to avoid Social Media. I am with you.

I do not like the idea of my life being plastered all over the place. Although I can set it up so only my friends see my photos and such........they can still copy and save information and use it elsewhere on the internet.

My sister had her facebook information hijacked and posted on a dating site that she did not authorize. Her facebook photo was used and so was her age and some other information. She was furious and I do not blame her. I think it was Zoosk or Zoosh.com/dating.

People have to realize that what is posted in words or photos on the internet, remains there and can be copied and shared, easily.

Although Yahoo Answers may be considered a Social Media, it is not one where you post your personal life, chat with real life friends and what not. This is not what I would call a "friendship" site where you would post your kid is having a birthday party at 3pm on Sunday.

While you have hidden your profile, you left YA wide open. Everyone can see all your questions and answers linked to you. Easy to become a target! Lock this down as well.

BTW, YA is a form of ''social media''.................

And what do you think this is?

The key to using social media is just to remember to never post anything that you would not want everyone knowing. Dont put your private life on it, its not a requirement, just what most people do with it. You can use it for professional resources, you can hide virtually all of your information from people who are not on your approved list, and stuff like that.
