Apathy seems to be the most pressing problem of our community. People seem to care less they just whine and whine but when it comes to suggesting solutions and participating in community projects they make so many alibis..Why do people become apathetic? What are the reasons behind these? How can a leader encourage his/her apathetic members to care? To be clear, this has to do with the government and its people...How can the government encourage its people to be more participative in development projects? Does apathy have a cure?Let's view this in general both in a developed country and developing country.

People have the constitutional right to exercice their freedoms the way they wish and nobody has the right to judge them as long as they don't trespass upon other people's rights or become parasitic. Example: people who are forever on welfare or social services.

Beside, apathetic and inactive people are not the cause of social problems, those who actively commit crimes and acts of delinquency are responsible for 99.9% problems.

If you really care for society as you seem to do, the first thing you must do is fight against crime and delinquency.

Apathy simply put is a lack of motivation. However, people are motivated. If I advertised free beer at my house this saturday night, lots of people would get off their butts and show up. People are absorbed by what motivates them and makes them feel good. Government doesn't make people feel good or safe for that matter. If you want something done these days, your on your own if it isn't more exciting than Facebook.

The cure for apathy is honesty. Let me explain. Apathy is created by a lie. It is created when someone tells them self that they don't care. That lie told over and over again will perpetuate itself into complete apathy. In order to overcome apathy, you have to be completely honest with yourself and act upon the truth. I don't know how to encourage people to be honest with themselves, but that is the cure for apathy.

There is no cure for apathy in modern society because modern society is hallow. The easy, materialistic, sensentationalist appeal of modern society demotivates people and encourages degeneracy. No modern leader can motivate people to care people have lose their capability to care because they subconsciousnessly realize society is fundamentally flawed as it encourages people to become anonymous to each other. The only way to encourage people to actually care is to resurrect a sense of community and inspire people with a sense of moral purpose and responsibility. National solidarity is dead however and so is religion.
