Do you know of a good online forum that I can use for my family?

It would take awhile to set up, but if you're willing to do some learning, you could get a gmail account and set up what's called a Google Group for you and your family. Check it out:

I would recommend http://sharalink.activebb.net/forum.htm. It's pretty easy to use all the basic features, but you might need to do some research to use some of the other features.

You can build a simple social networking site on ning.com:
http://www.ning.com

You can set it up so only your family can be on the site. Each person can have his or her own page with photos, notes, and whatever.

Ning is free if you don't mind ads on the site.
