URGENT - iPad 2 stuck in recovery mode?
I tried to update my ipad 2 (jailbroken) to the new 6.1 update from apple, but when i try and do so it comes up with an error message reading something along the lines of 'update file was corrupted during download' and then it tells me to disconnect, reconnect and try again. After attempting this many times to no avail, i need to know what the problem is and if there is a way i can fix it! Help would be much appreciated as i dont want a broken iPad!

I had the same problem and this worked for me. I had to manually intall the ipad software (ipsw) firmware.

1. Select and download your ipsw file here
http://osxdaily.com/2010/11/02/download-...ware-ipsw/

2. Change file extension from .zip to .ipsw if needed.

3. With devices plugged in, hold shift key and click restore on itunes.

4. Locate and sellect the downloaded ipsw file and itunes will do the rest.
Best of luck

I did exactly what Jonas posted. "IT WORKED" My ipad 2 was also jailbroken

I used http://www.redsn0w.us/2013/01/download-i...e-for.html

i downloaded a new itunes then downloaded this from redsn0w : i downloaded ipad 2 wifi
then i followed these steps
1. open itunes, ipad disconnected.
2. connect ipad
3. warning restore message appears
4. (windows users) HOLD SHIFT and click the restore button. This should open a dialogue box allowing you to navigate to the file you downloaded. Select the file and hit ok.
5. this should start the manual restore, if it fails, download the next file and repeat.

hello dear

i had the same problem and i spend 2 days searching the internet and you tube. dont waste ur time downloading any extra softwear like tinyumbrella or blackrain etc..

the problem is itune cannot connect your ipad to the apple main server becouse of the settings of ur computer (mostly happen if u use jail break )

all you need to do is use another computer or go to a internet shop and download the latest i tunes , once installed download the latest ipsw from http://www.redsn0w.us/2013/01/download-i...e-for.html and save it . (do not download old ones as downgrade will not work ) then connect ur device to computer ,open itune, u will get the msg iTunes in recovery mood click ok then hold shift and click restore , new window will pop up select the ispw u just download and press ok . your device will restore to factory setting . this will 100% work if u use another computer . the other way is to edit the host manually but that is complicated .
