I'm planning on joining FB, but I have a question?
I had asked another FB Question here and I saw someone said that FB might start charging people in the future. Does anyone have any info on this? I'd really like to know b/4 I join and b4 I write my first blog entry.

I have heard this, it it completely untrue! Facebook has plenty of sponsors and advertisements, they're not gonna charge.

The day FB starts charging for use is the day I'll close my account. Right now, it is totally free and I use it on a daily basis. FB can not charge you without your consent and much less if you don't provide any credit card info in the first place.

that is just people who create stupid groups saying "join this group, we need 1 mill fans or facebook will charge you.".
Most people are bl***dy stupid enough to actually join it because they believe it. Its no differnet from when you get stupid chain mail from your friends saying "pass this onto 10 people or you will have bad luck for the rest of the year". Yeah.... cause the person taht first created that e-mail is some sort of god that can control your fate.... Facebook are not going to charge, its just users trying to scare others into joining their silly groups. |

Business models and the internet change as time passes. Facebook (or any internet service!) would charge if they thought they could get away with it and still keep enough users to make money.
Its seems unlikely that will happen in the next year or so, but its always possible. You really have nothing to lose by signing up. If and when they decide to charge, you can always delete your account and go to something else. |

They will not charge you. Don't worry. Here's why: So many people use it and it's become the preferred social networking site out there. Facebook makes piles upon piles of money each year on advertising on the site. Think about it: Why do companies pay so much money to get an ad on the Super Bowl? Because that's where all the people are at a given time. That's what Facebook is. So many people use it that it's like a marketing bonanza. They can put ads up there where all the people are and even specify who the ads go to based on what people are interested in on Facebook.
Now, if Facebook suddenly decides to charge people to use it, people will leave and won't use it. They will lose a ton of money in marketing deals. Point of this is: FACEBOOK WILL NOT BE CHARGING YOU TO USE THE SITE. You can count on that. Hopefully that helped. |
