My ex husband informed that he file for divorce through ad by publication?
He contacted me via facebook and said that I had to send me $300 in order for him to send me a copy of the divorce degree. He lives in another state, but I have no idea where. Any advice on how to find out where and if he filed?

He was able to contact you through fb, but not serve you with a divorce petition?

No, you don't need to send him $300. He can photocopy the decree and mail it to you.

You don't have to send him any $!!! If he filed for a divorce from you, he can hire someone to serve you even if the 2 of you live in different states. He just wants $ and getting it from you shouldn't be the case! And $300 just to send a copy!! Get the hell outta here!!! Don't send him $ ask him who did he use the name you can always google the company name.

My friend had this problem. He could never get his wife to send him her half to the fee to get the paperwork done. Most likely, he paid for something himself and wants you to pay half.
Ask to see a receipt via fb and let him know once you see it, you'll be happy to reimburse it.

If he filed, you are not required to reimburse any sort of filing fee. Additionally, filing for a divorce is very different from having been granted a divorce. Most counties have all of public filings online that you can view for free. Search through the county records, or call the county/district clerk to see if he actually did file.

Filing through publication is only done when the other spouse cannot find or contact the spouse they are seeking the divorce from. I think he;'s trying to dupe you into sending him free money.

those are his won legal costs. the only way the other party ever pay is if he filed a grievance asking the court to have you be the one to pay but for the publication that would not apply here. he's sol (shit out of luck)

Do NOT send him any money!

Contact the county courthouse where he lives and THEY will send you a copy.
