How do i start the conversation on facebook?

I like this guy and many people have advised me that from my previous history with him, he probably still likes me and i should try to talk to him. we havent talked for 2 years, but i saw him yesterday and we exchanged glances. i noticed that even when we walked in opposite directions he still kept staring at me. i want to start a conversation on facebook, but it seems so hard to even say hi. i feel so nervous. i want to but i just cant. how can i start the conversation, after hi? what could the conversation possibly lead to?

After saying hi, start asking how was class or by saying how was your day. And ask anything that you ask to a normal guy.
