Would it be strange to add/message this person on Facebook?

I found this guy from another country, through one of his friend's YouTube videos that he was in. They were snowboarding in it and doing a really good job, and I thought that he was really cute. After finding his facebook I wanted to message him and say something like, I found you through YouTube and I thought you guys were awesome and you're really cute. Would it be completely weird if I did that? He's my age too.

If you go with that right away it will be weird but if you start with a small conversation like saying hi introducing yourself and after all that you can tell him about the video and that he's cute
