What are some must have apps for the ipod touch?
I am trying to decide between the Zune HD or the ipod touch.

For me, the Zune has the better screen and price, but the touch has apps.

What are some apps (please tell me what they do, not just names) that are must haves. No social networking apps please.

Thanks!

NOVA- first person shooter, fairly nice controls, 4 player online multiplayer. 13 level campaign, it's very fun, especially killing people online Tongue

Angry Birds- very fun catapult game

modern combat: sandstorm- military first person shooter

plants versus zombies- just look it up

translator- it translates languages

text to speech- it's fun to listen to a computer talk

textplus or one of those texting apps- you can text with wifi from the ipod

Pocket God- you are the god of a few pygmies, and you do fun stuff

tap tap revenge- like rock band or guitar hero

Basicly whatever is in the top 50

Backbreaker- amazing quality football game- only 99 cents

Facebook and/or MySpace, free: Catch up on your real-world friends and see their latest photos. Great for killing time in waiting rooms.

Google Earth, free: The built-in Google Maps app is great for getting around, but Google Earth is a traveler's dream app. Gorgeous scenery, including 3D landscapes.

Tap Tap Revenge, free, or Tap Tap Dance, $5: The iPhone's equivalent of "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band." Play along with music, including new live multi-player mode on the free edition.

AOL Radio, free: Tune into local and Internet radio stations via your iPhone.

Pandora, free: Another popular, free Internet music app. Hooks in to the Pandora Web site.

It`s sad that the Zune has limited apps in its marketplace, but Microsoft wont let outside developer create apps for the Zune.

For the games in the iPod Touch, I would recommend:
Doodle Jump - You play this character called Doodle, and with the built in accelerometer, you set your character on the platforms, making him jump higher. The higher you get, the more points.
Angry Bird - You use a sling shot to sling birds, crushing the castles of the pigs, and get your eggs back.
Pocket God - You play as God, deciding the certainty of the people living on the island.
Paper Toss - You flick a bunch a paper into a garbage can, the more paper you get in, the more points you get.
Zombie Smash - Try to protect your house from rounds of zombies coming your way by flicking and trowing them around. You could also by weapons for you helping.

For an alternative browser:
Opera - The fastest mobile browser out there.

For tech shopping:
RedLaser - Scan the barcode on a product and get pricing, reviews and comparisons nearest you.
Cnet Scan & Shop - Scan the barcode of a tech product and get pricing and reviews from the editors of Cnet.

For developing movies:
iMovie - Make beatiful HD movies, right in your iPod.

For media on the go:
Hulu Plus - Pay $9.99 a month lets you watch your favorite TV shows on the go.
Pandora - Just sign up free, and listen radio from the web in your iPod.

There are many more apps you can look at Bing Visual Search for hundreds of apps avaliable in the iTunes store.

Hope this helps!!!

As an owner of a Zune and a Touch , I'll have to tellyou that it is a hard desicion. One thing I liked about the Zune is that you can download as many apps music and movies for 10$ a month. But the itouch has a better touch screen, processor, and faster Internet. But I love both.

Now as for apps, here's a few of my faves

Angry Birds- A very addicting game where you basically just shoot birds at pigs. Kinda like crush the castle. It is the #1 bestselling app and has a full 5 stars.

Zombieville- Another very addicting game where you just run through levels shooting zombies and collecting money and weapons. Another best seller.

Backbreaker- for the football fan. Musch more fun than madden. Try to un through as many waves of defenders as possible. another bestseller.

Pulse- A great news reader. It takes 20 of your favorite topics wether it's politics or the world cup and shows them all in one simple window- Bestseller

They also have Tiger woods PGA tour, Madden, Fifa, NFS Shift, NBA Live and many more EA games like Sim City.

If you like music you should get pandora radio. It will put togeter a portfolio of you favorite artists and play them for free.

I am tpain- Rrcord your voice and the app will ailurophobia tune it to sound just like tpain.
(Basically Useless)

Wait! Though before you make your final decision I have some news for you
This year apple purchased hundreds of thousands of camera components that most experts say will go into the next generation iPod touch.

Wich, experts sY will cone our in september.
