I have a day care business and want to check a potential employee's web activity?
I have an daycare business and want to check a potential employees web activity. Basically social media sites and other online activity which may put up a red flag. I used to do criminal checks ect but now I'm told web activity can tell alot.
Does anyone know how or what I should check?
Thanks Emily Chantili

You probably need a professional network firewall, that can log all that information, and provide blocking of sites as well, to provide some level of protection. This is, assuming you are talking about employees using your internet service during the day - to keep track of what they do.

Since you have to ask this question here on YA, obviously you do not have the skills to do this, so I would suggest trying to find some networking expert to provide some form of firewall protection. There are lots of free Linux firewalls that can do this, but you will need help setting them up (which ever you choose...)

If I understand correctly.. it sounds as though you would like to check to see if the potential employee has been visiting websites, or posting any kind of material on the web that could raise these red flags.

Well you can do things such as enter the person's name into google... do a websearch for their email address... etc..

Yes, web activity can sure tell alot...

Maybe you should just download a keylogger and have the person to install it onto their pc.. lol

Go on FaceBook and/or MySpace and type in their full name under search. You can look at their page unless they have it blocked from people they arent friends with.

While I understand that you want a good and safe employee, I would advise you to stick to a standard criminal records check, or see if they have a record od any kind with your local Child Protection agency.

The fact, of the matter is, all people deserve their privacy and what they do on their own time is really non of your business. Since it is well known that employers do check social networking sites, there is alot of people like me who never post anything personal online, or are simple very hard to find.

If an employer asked me to install a key logging software on my personal computers, I simply wouldn't work for that employer. Such software would give you all of my passwords, even those to my bank accounts, which, as much as I may like working for a person, not even my best friend of 20 years gets to know that information. Ever here if Identity Theft people?

In addition to this, there are many people around who have the same name. Google someones name, and you could possibly mistake that John Doe who was at a nightclub on Friday, with your employee who spent the weekend at their grandmothers. *laughs* Hell use my name as an example, google me and you will get 10 000 results for PD S***** and not one of them is me.
