Why do the Republican's want to give my Social Security to the Stock Market?

FDR set it up as a trust. LBJ plundered it for his failed war on poverty, he put it into the general fund. Of the two... the gooberment or the private sector... I trust the private sector more.... That is unless the gooberment makes things even worse for the private sector.

Bottom line...... LBJ PLUNDERED it, and the politicians HANDED OUT 4 YEAR COLLEGE DEGREES for a period of time just because there was a huge surplus. Those crackpots Washington can NOT be trusted.

No, so that you will make more money and be in a better position when you retire. I/Republicans care about you.
On average it is estimated that a good portfolio should double every seven years(?).
-personally I don't want anyone in charge of my money EXCEPT myself and a broker but of course I'm not a moron either.

I'm sure there is an ultra safe mutual fund, bond or equity that will suit your needs.

I also don't want MY MONEY, that I earned, going toward your retirement. Especially when I worked so damn hard for it while you sat around smoking pot.

OK... what we WANT to do is allow you to invest SOME of YOUR SSI TAXES money for retirement into relatively safe vessels (like bonds) that will EARN you enough money to actually retire on... instead of having you rely solely upon the "investment strategy" of the SS program (which means NONE) without losing the entire safety net that SS is (since only a portion of your taxes go towards the personal saving account you will still be eligible for benefits (although greatly reduced) if Wall Street does another major dump right before you retire)... Either way you will never recover what YOU put into the program....

Who wants this?
Source Please!

Nancy Pelosi wanted to take 401s and give them to Social Security to PRIVITIZE SOCIAL SECURITY, I don't hear you screaming about that.

Because Social Security is a bad idea and always was. Let us not forget that Social Security passed at a time when few people lived to retirement and was passed as a shameless vote-buying scheme from those few that did.

Today Social Security is not only a lousy savings plan, forced on every citizen at gunpoint but it faces the very real prospect of bankrupting the nation. Social Security is by definition a Ponzi Scheme, every bit as bad as what Madoff was doing except that because the government run the thing its legal. What you pay in you don't get back, your grand kids will be paying for you because right now you are paying for your parents and grandparents.

Anyone who thinks they couldn't take the money they put in Social Security now and invest it themselves and come out ahead, way ahead in the end is at best a functional idiot. Personally I think Social Security should be abolished altogether. Let people do what they want with their own money. I have yet to find anything in the Constitution that says the government has the right to put a gun to my head and force me to invest in a bad retirement plan. The ONLY reason Social Security still exists is because there are so many seniors now and every one of them votes and too many of them didn't save because "the government will take care of them." So now they survive on poverty-level payouts from Big Brothers retirement plan.
