How to monitor my child on facebook?
Every new electonic or social media advance presents new challenges for parents. Actually one of my child is using facebook. I want to monitor him on facebook. What sould I do? I don't know what date of birth he used. I don't know much. I cannot talk to him. Please note that I am not identity theft or something. Please co-operate. Think your child. Thanks.

This is YOUR child and I assume living in YOUR home. Let your child know you will be monitoring his/her fb and ask for the password. If s/he isn't willing to give it to you, tell your child there will be no more computer time unless it is in your presence. Stick to it. Kids need to be protected.
My friends daughter (age 13) posted some pictures of herself in her panties and bra in a seductive pose. Her b.f.'s parents saw it, called her parents and told them they considered it child porn. She looked into it and found out if his parents want they can call the cops because she is under 14. My friend is a wonderful mom but peer pressure can be stronger than parental influence. Good luck. |

My parents insisted I friended them on Facebook, that way they could check up on my profile and see who my friends were. I think this is more fair than giving them your password because I see that as too invasive from the teenage daughter stance. If I removed them as a friend, they removed the internet. To some people this may seem silly but I think it's a good form of discipline and they care enough to check up on me.
If you don't have a profile, you can at least have a relative check their profile, because it does effect what we post on FB knowing that. |
