Windows 8 problems with dell inspiron 1764?
I recently got windows 8 for my 64 bit Dell Inspiron, model 1764. I put the disk in and open up the installer, enter the key code and then it gives me options "Save personal file apps and data" "save personal files" and "Nothing" I choose nothing. Mmk. Then it checks if my computer is good for updating, it says its fine and then shows me my options. Then I continue. It'll say my computer may reboot a few times and it may take a while. It just loads up to 100% without rebooting. Okay... So I goes to the next step and then it says "Your computer will reboot in a few moments" Annd then after a couple minutes of loading it will freeze. Even after leaving it overnight, it still won't install. So what could be the solution to this problem? Oh and another bit of information, the windows 8 64 bit disk was used on a different computer before I did mine. I'm not sure if I need to buy a new disk, which I really don't want to do because the developers of windows 8 said that it would work with ALL PLATFORMS. I'm pissed at the moment and looking for answers, can anyone help me?

Hello zip,
My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.
Dell has identified several general upgrade issues with Windows 8. These are not platform-specific, but affect all computers upgrading to Windows 8. To know more, please visit

Hope this helps.
