How many friends do you really know on Facebook?

During HS I had a good 550-600 friends on Facebook. I racked up randoms because the number made me feel "more accepted." I deactivated it after graduation and haven't used it in nearly 2 years. I got back on it today and did some cleaning up on the friends list. I now only have about 34 on my list who I actually have good relationships left.

I learned that if those other people who I was friends wanted to be friends they would have tried to keep in touch.

I know about 300 of them enough that I'd stop to chat with them if I saw them around and about.

I'm not much of a people person though, so I usually hang out by myself.

Everybody on my friends list is somebody I know and want to stay in touch with- both friends and family. I don't add random people. I have Facebook to keep up with people who don't live near me, and who I don't talk to all the time, but want to keep up with. Nobody is a stranger, and I don't worry about them sharing my private information with anybody.

I have about 100, and I know half of them fairly well.
