Unlink it from the internet for that period. There's no reason for her to be on Facebook. It's an addictive thing that was originally intended for people at least 18 years old, and now you can see why! I know a lot of kids are on it but they don't use it correctly or at the right times.

When my son needs to be on the computer, I make sure that the net is disconnected-- the cord is out, if you're on dial-up, or the modem is unplugged, if you're wireless. And you can control that yourself!

block facebook.
for vista, if you have that.. I would follow this:
start menu-control panel-User Accounts and Family Safety-Click on her account or make her one or something-Parental controls- and somewhere in there you can set how long they can be on the account and stuff like that and there should be a place where you can block sites.

hope this helps Tongue

Facebook is a web page and you can block any web page. But it has to be done on the web browser you are using and a savvy teenager can get around it.

If you are using Internet Explorer, Click on TOOLS then on INTERNET OPTIONS, go the to Security TAB. Click on Blocked sites and add the complete address of facebook to the list.

IE will not be able to access the web site. If you use a different browser it will not be effected.
Other browswers have similiar settings.

Well, you could block facebook, but she won't be very happy.

If you are using internet explorer, go into Tools > Internet Options
Then click on the Privacy tab and click on the "sites" button. Then you can enter facebook.com into the box and hit 'block'.

This will only work if your account is administrator and your daughter's account isn't.

Sorry, I don't know how to block sites on Mozilla yet.

Im not too sure if facebook has parental controls, try going onto the site and having a look. The next best option is to block the site if you have a router. Most modern routers have the ability to block sites from being accessed on your network or from being accessed at certain times of the day. It will depend on your type of router (if you have one), i would go to the manufacturers site and find a manual if you don't already have a hard copy. With my router, and many others it is just a case of typing in the IP address of your router as if you were typing in a website name. Most common IP adresses are:
192.168.1.1
192.168.0.1
192.168.2.1
192.168.123.254
This will then come up with a user name and password box in most situations and unless you have changed it the password will be the routers default one, for instance, netgear routers use the login of 'ADMIN' and 'password' for the password. If you manage to get to this point you are now logged into your routers settings in which you can search for a button saying "Parental control" or something similar. This will open up a page in which you can type in a site that you want to restrict and how you want to restrict it, once done press OK or APPLY and you might be asked to restart your router. Once you are done, try going onto the restricted site and see if it lets you. Some routers also allow you to restrict site with certain words in them which can be good for restricting content without having to know the name of every site that contains that content.

If you dont have a router and you want to get one, i suggest the TP-Link TL-WR941N which is very easy to setup and to restrict sites amongst other things. You could also go to your local computer store and ask the staff for some help.

Hope this is helpful, good luck!

Block Facebook in a way she probably won't be able to fix...

Click START
Click RUN
In the open box, type in %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

When it asks what program to open it with, choose NotePad.

Add the following line to the bottom of the document and save it...

127.0.0.1 facebook.com

Now your computer will not load any pages, files etc from facebook.com. To reverse this (if you ever need to in the future), open your HOSTS file the same way and delete that line.

I do this to block banner ads etc. Works great, saves bandwidth.
