i know he's your kids father, but as a human being he's a cting a damn fool.
let him prove to himself first that he's a changed man. You'll hear it from friends and relatives of his, not from his word of mouth but through his actions.

He will not walk in front of a car, he is only trying to manipulate you. Do not take him back. Abuser almost never change and they absolutely never change without therapy. Get a restraining order, then file for child support.

No. He won't change. But, if he has any sense of self preservation, he'll do what my ex did when I wouldn't take him back despite being pregnant by him. My ex suddenly remembered all the emotional abuse I'd put him through, forcing him to be physically defensive and causing him never to have wanted me anyway. Um, yea. At least, that's what he told his wife and a girl he met online.
