It depends. I actually have both. I've had both my Vita and my iPod for a long time now, but I really have to hand it to the Vita. It really depends on what style of games and music you like, but for me the Vita is the best. Let's look at the iPod first:
PROS:
-Many uses besides games
-More free stuff
-Light and portable
-Constant supply of new stuff
CONS:
-No real 'big' games
-Terrible battery life
-Entertaining for only short periods of time for each app
-Not too much memory
-Apple product (sorry, I had to say it)

And the Vita...

PROS:
-Full length, well made games
-Bunch of memory if you have the money
-Fully downloadable games, with some physical copies, MUCH better controls
-Has Netflix, Facebook, and other social media, as well as cross-play with PS3 for select games
-PS3 stuff like friends, messaging, and... trophies! Big Grin
CONS:
-Costs way more than the iPod for games and memory
-Doesn't have its own music store (besides Music Unlimited, if you're willing to pay for that. I personally don't have it, so I can't really give you the breakdown on that)
-Not as polished social media, not too big of a supply of that
-Bigger and bulkier, fits in some pockets

In the end, it's up to you. Or you could just get both. I haven't used my iPod in ages, but I know people who think VERY differently.
